BTS Steven Alan Men's Fall 2015 Lookbook

Steven Alan behind the scenes

If you haven't already noticed, Steven Alan has been stepping up its fashion edge in a big way the past few years. Their classic shirts haven't gone anywhere but their latest offerings now include items like sharply tailored coats and more daring accessories, like the fuzzy hat pictured here.

We shot their Men's 2015 Fall Lookbook a few weeks ago at Dune Studios and I had an awesome time getting up close and personal with the new collection. It was a great day shooting partly because of the amazing team and partly because there happened to be two adorable King Charles Cavaliers on set. Thank you for having me!

Glamour Magazine's Women Of The Year

Who run the world? Girls.

If there were ever any doubt about the truth to Beyonce's song, you had to be at Glamour Magazine's Women Of The Year Awards which took place Monday evening at Carnegie Hall. The event honors women who help empower and inspire other women this year. Monday night's event honored the likes of Lupita Nyong'o and Chelsea Clinton, but more importantly the list of honorees included 10 school girls from around the world who are pushing for girl's education in their countries and communities.

I had the amazing privilege of being part of the beauty team to get these girls glammed up before the event and if these ladies are any indication of the future, we are in good hands. Each of them were smart, beautiful, funny, and oh did I mention only 12 to 18 years old? Many of them were in the U.S. for the first time and didn't speak English, which was no barrier to having an amazing time getting ready and seeing the excitement in their eyes.

It was an honor to be a small part of the event. Makeup might not save the world but these girls certainly will. I'll be looking for them in 10-20 years when they really are running the world. Congrats to each of them!

Volunteering with Reveal NYC

Back in February I registered to volunteer with an amazing organization called Reveal NYC. Reveal is a nonprofit that helps women coming out of domestic violent environments and fosters an uplifting community where they can heal and restore their dignities.

Reveal hosts an annual Valentine's Day Makeover event which took place on February 15th this year. Tons of volunteers showed up to help pamper these women with new clothes, facials, hair and makeup makeovers, and a professional photoshoot to show off their fabulous new selves. It was such an honor to be a part of the makeover process and watch these women transform before your eyes with a little bit of lipstick and a new 'do. Anyone who doubts the power of makeup and the confidence it inspires just needs to see the looks on the faces of these women at the end of an event like this.

Thanks, Reveal, for letting me be a part of such an awesome event. Can't wait to see you again next Valentine's Day!

Portraits of Asian-America

One of the best parts of working in this industry is seeing the passion these artists, photographers, and creators all have for their work. One such individual is Shirley Yu who I have been fortunate enough to work with often, which is why I was more than thrilled to help her with a series of self-portraits for a personal project of hers centering on her identity as an Asian-American. We had a great day shooting three individual looks at her studio in NJ. The final photos are below-- not pictured is me in the background attempting to become a human wind machine, maniacally flapping at Shirley with the Game of Thrones issue of Vanity Fair. #Glamorous.
